More information on the products we use
With Industrial style, we're describing an interior characterized by coarse piece and a lot of metal. This is typically used for furniture that looks as if it came from a turn-of-the-century factory building. The used metal of the furniture is often black or even slightly rusted.
Defined, rustic style is a design emphasis on rugged, natural beauty. It embraces nature-inspired textures, simple and earthy colors, and ultimately an unpretentious, organic warmth. Our products are sealed with oil or water based sealers and not varnish. These sealers leaves the furniture looking raw and rustic.
Our products are not made to perfection. Each and every product is handcrafted from scratch and finished with a combined look and feel of industrial and rustic chic, giving character to the piece of furniture.
Pinus Elliottii is a large tree with grey to rusty brown bark that is shed in flat discs. It reaches a height of 25 – 30m and a width of 0.6 – 0.8m.
The heartwood is orange to reddish-brown in colour and resinous. The growth rings are clearly marked by the contrast between the early wood and darker, more dense latewood, giving a coarse texture, especially in rapid grown timber.
The timber has a moderate resistance to cutting edges with machine and hand tools and finishes cleanly. However, the resin can be troublesome in clogging cutters and saw teeth. The timber holds nails and screws firmly and it can be glued without difficulty. Paint and other finishing treatments are fairly satisfactory.
The tree grows to a height of 23-30m in height and 0.3-1.00m in width. Rubberwood lumber is taken from rubber plantations where the trees are tapped for latex, and harvested at the end of their usefull life cycles.
The heartwood naturally a light blonde to medium tan colour with medium brown streaks. The colour tends to darken slightly with age. The grain is straight, somewhat course with an open texture. The timber has a low natural lustre. Rubberwood is easy to work with both hand and machine tools. It tends to warp and twist in drying but is fairly stable once seasoned. It glues, stains and finishes well.
The timber resembles other species of the Pterocarpus genus (padauk from Burma, Andamans and Africa) but lacks the reddish colour of padauk, being brown with irregular reddish streaks.
It is also softer and lighter in weight about 640kg/m3 when dried. The sapwood, which is rather wide, is oatmeal in colour; the grain is straight to interlock, and the texture is medium.
This beautiful timber is easy to work with and is durable and stable. It is resistant to borer and termites. The heartwood makes high quality furniture, as it is easily worked, glues and screws well and polishes well.
It shrinks very little when drying from green and this quality, together with its high durability makes it particularly suitable for boat building, canoes and bathroom floors.
